Join the Juvenile Justice Program at the Mental Health Center of Denver to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health services to youth involved in the juvenile justice system. This role involves working closely with probation and community stakeholders to support youth and families in achieving stability and improving well-being. Services are primarily delivered in community settings, including homes, schools, and clinics.
What you'll do#
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and support diagnostic formulation under supervision.
- Provide individual and family therapy in community settings.
- Deliver psychoeducation related to mental health and coping skills.
- Engage in case management and coordination with probation officers, schools, and community partners.
- Complete clinical documentation in accordance with WellPower standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Master’s level student in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related clinical field.
- Second-year students are preferred.
- A demonstrated interest in child, adolescent, and family mental health.
Location & details#
- Location: Denver, Colorado (On-site, community-based services).
- Commitment: 9 to 12 months, aligned with the academic calendar.
- Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week; 15 to 20 hours preferred.
- Schedule: Flexible, with some evening availability expected to meet family needs.
- Compensation: This is a non-paid student internship.
