This internship provides hands-on clinical experience within the Intensive Treatment team, specifically supporting the Homebased and STAY SAFE programs. You will provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health services to children, adolescents, and their families. Services are delivered in homes, clinics, schools, and community settings to support youth experiencing acute mental health needs, including suicidal ideation or recent suicide attempts. Interns receive a minimum of one hour per week of individual clinical supervision, along with opportunities for group supervision, case consultation, and agency training.
What you'll do#
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and contribute to diagnostic formulation under supervision.
- Provide individual and family therapy in home, clinic, and community settings.
- Support youth and families experiencing suicidal ideation or recent suicide attempts.
- Participate in safety planning and crisis stabilization interventions.
- Deliver psychoeducation related to mental health, coping skills, and family systems.
- Engage in case management and coordinate with schools, medical providers, and community partners.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team and complete clinical documentation.
- Attend team meetings, case consultations, and internal trainings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s level program for Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related clinical field.
- Second-year students are preferred.
- A demonstrated interest in child, adolescent, and family mental health.
- Ability to commit to 9 to 12 months, aligned with the academic calendar.
- Availability for a minimum of 10 hours per week, with 15 to 20 hours preferred.
