About the role#
The Radiologic Technologist Extern position allows radiology students to gain hands-on experience in patient care within a hospital setting. Working under the direction of the Radiology Clinical Coordinator, Team Lead, and Radiologist staff, you will assist with daily imaging procedures while following established safety regulations and protocols.
What you'll do#
- Assist licensed practitioners in performing radiographic and medical imaging procedures.
- Position patients and equipment to optimize imaging results and demonstrate the required anatomical area.
- Prepare and administer contrast media within your scope of practice.
- Communicate with the healthcare team to ensure quality of care and evaluate patient outcomes.
- Obtain and record relevant medical history and explain procedures to patients.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure all studies are complete before releasing patients.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection-control policies and reporting equipment malfunctions.
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Associate degree program for Radiology.
- Status within 12 months of graduation.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Current CPR certification.
