Temporary Student position-Material Handler

About the role#

Leonardo DRS is hiring a Temporary Student Material Handler to support warehouse and production operations in Bedford, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, paid summer position for the 2026 term, lasting between 4 to 6 months. This role is designed for a self-motivated student interested in hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do#

• Receive products and components from incoming receiving and inspection.
• Place received materials into inventory following internal processes.
• Read work orders and follow written or oral instructions to move materials.
• Prepare material kits for delivery to the production floor.
• Open containers using basic hand tools such as box cutters, steel cutters, and crowbars.
• Load and unload materials onto pallets, trays, and racks by hand.
• Move materials between storage and work areas using hand trucks, electric dollies, or other authorized equipment.
• Attach tags and labels to materials and mark required information.
• Provide general support to the incoming receiving and planning teams.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in high school or a recent graduate.
• High school diploma or GED is considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
