AI & Business Automation Intern

About the role#

The AI & Business Automation Intern will support the Land Electronics business unit in Huntsville, AL, during the Fall 2026 term. This role focuses on advancing internal AI and automation roadmaps within a defense manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with the AI & Business Automation Lead, IT, and business stakeholders to build, test, and document AI-driven workflows that support engineering, program management, and operations.

What you'll do#

• Build and prototype automation scripts, prompt workflows, and low-code/no-code solutions.
• Assist in configuring and refining agent skills and multi-step agent workflows.
• Stand up, configure, and test Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to connect internal AI tools to business systems.
• Craft, test, and refine reusable prompts and templates for recurring business tasks.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools and vendor solutions, including executing test plans and validating AI outputs.
• Author user guides, wiki pages, and training content to document solution architectures and configurations.
• Triage and organize incoming idea submissions related to AI and automation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least two years of academic experience with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Foundational programming or scripting ability in at least one modern language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience using LLMs and AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or Gemini.
• Comfort writing and iterating on structured prompts.
• Ability to work in a structured corporate environment with strong written communication and self-direction.
