As a U.S. Operations Intern, you will work directly with the operations team to support the Kiva U.S. lending program. This role involves managing the end-to-end borrower experience, from initial loan application and credit underwriting to fundraising support and repayment management. You will gain insight into microfinance operations and contribute to projects that improve our infrastructure and partner relationships.
What you'll do#
- Screen and approve loan applications in collaboration with the review team.
- Provide support to borrowers via text and phone calls throughout their fundraising campaigns.
- Manage borrower delinquency and develop action plans to assist borrowers with repayments.
- Pilot process and infrastructure improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with U.S. Partnerships colleagues to improve the partner experience.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 21 years of age by July 14, 2026.
- Ability to commit to the full 6-month term.
- Strong critical thinking skills with a high level of attention to detail and personal ownership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Highly organized with an aptitude for working in a start-up environment.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Human Resources, or Communications.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2026 (July 14, 2026 – December 31, 2026).
- Modality: Remote within the United States.
- Commitment: Part-time (24–32 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid position with a monthly stipend of $800 before taxes.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
