Natural Language Processing Research Internship

About the role#

This Natural Language Processing Research Internship focuses on advancing artificial intelligence through research and development. You will contribute to projects with positive social impact, including national and global security, environmental monitoring, and ethical AI. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate on research projects and engage in work that supports the publication of novel findings.

What you'll do#

• Develop robust solutions within Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models (LLMs), Foundation Models, machine learning, and AI.
• Create and evaluate algorithms designed to understand textual content from text and multi-modal data.
• Perform reasoning tasks on extracted data to support project objectives.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a Ph.D. student in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with natural language text generation, foundation models, and LLMs, specifically using tools such as GPT, Claude, or BERT.
• A documented publication history in NLP conferences (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL) or AI venues (e.g., AAAI, ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS).
• A list of publications included with your resume or CV.
• U.S. citizenship, as required by contractual restrictions.
• Experience with multiple large multimodal AI models (image, text, and speech) and adapting NLP/LLMs to specific domains, including decision-making and reasoning, is preferred.
