AI Research Internship

About the role#

Kitware is seeking an AI Research Intern to contribute to projects focused on positive social impact. You will work on initiatives spanning environmental monitoring, national and global security, ethical AI, open science, and medical computing. This internship offers the opportunity to explore independent ideas, address real-world technical challenges, and publish results in premier academic conferences.

What you'll do#

• Develop robust AI solutions including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision Language Models (VLMs), and Foundation Models.
• Design algorithms for complex tasks such as object detection, classification, and tracking.
• Conduct research in video and image understanding, 3D reconstruction from aerial imagery, and reasoning in decision-making.
• Work on cybersecurity applications, including threat detection and decision alignment.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a Ph.D. student in Computer Science or a related AI field.
• Experience in computer vision, foundation models, LLMs, machine learning, or audio processing.
• Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow.
• A provided list of publications included with your resume or CV.
• Preferred experience includes work with multimodal AI models, a history of publishing in conferences like CVPR, ICCV, or NeurIPS, and interest in open source contribution.
• Due to contractual restrictions, this position is open only to U.S. citizens.

• Modality: This is an on-site position requiring 5 days per week in the office.
• Commitment: Full-time, rolling internship.
