As an Assistant Principal of Student Supports (SPED), you will serve as a key member of the school leadership team, acting as an apprentice to the School Leader. This role focuses on developing your capacity for future school leadership while driving academic and social-emotional outcomes for students. You will be expected to lead both instruction and school culture, develop emerging leaders, and support the implementation of the school’s vision.
What you'll do#
- Model and support the implementation of the school’s vision and goals.
- Collaborate with the School Leader on hiring diverse, highly-effective teachers and staff.
- Coach teachers on how to assess for student mastery and growth towards college readiness.
- Lead data-driven instruction by helping teachers analyze student performance and identify instructional adjustments.
- Provide high-quality instructional coaching, including frequent observations and actionable feedback.
- Manage daily school operations, including arrival, dismissal, and behavior intervention systems.
- Identify and develop emerging leaders, such as Department Heads and Grade Level Chairs.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an educator.
- A B.A. or B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A valid California teaching credential or an out-of-state equivalent license.
- Demonstrated student achievement results from your own classroom and the teachers you have managed.
- Expertise in data analysis and the ability to translate academic standards into instructional plans.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
