This position is based within the Transmission & Distribution Technologies department, specifically the Line Asset Management team. You will work on-site at the Toronto laboratory, gaining practical experience by assisting technologists and engineers with mechanical and electrical evaluations of overhead conductors and fiber optics. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to testing projects while working under the supervision of senior technical staff.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on technical laboratory work under supervision.
- Prepare samples, including epoxy terminations and compression connectors.
- Assist with test setups and the execution of mechanical and electrical evaluations.
- Maintain accurate test logsheets and records in compliance with quality programs.
- Support the design of test fixtures and jigs using Solidworks.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in an industrial setting.
- Provide status updates to laboratory supervisors and project managers.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate Mechanical or Electrical Engineering program.
- Ability to perform moderate physical tasks, including lifting up to 40-50 lbs.
- Experience using hand tools such as drills, hammers, and grinders.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Solidworks or AutoCAD.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Familiarity with data acquisition programs like LabView or measuring instruments like calipers and LVDTs is considered an asset.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (On-site).
- Term: 4, 8, or 12 months.
- Compensation: $21.20–$27.43 per hour (based on experience and year of study).
- Employment type: Full-time.
