About the role#
The WPS Work Program/Student position supports the operation and maintenance of water treatment systems within the manufacturing facility. This role involves both indoor and outdoor work in a manufacturing environment, requiring the ability to work in varying temperatures and around noise.
What you'll do#
- Collect industrial water samples from cooling towers and chill water systems, performing analysis for PH, Free Chlorine, phosphate, iron, conductivity, alkalinity, bacteria, and nitrite.
- Adjust chemical levels in cooling and chill water systems, including acid, bleach, corrosion inhibitors, and dispersants.
- Operate and monitor fire water systems, industrial water systems, and pure water systems, including reverse osmosis machine maintenance and sand filter backwashing.
- Assist utility technicians with drinking water and wastewater operations, such as changing filters and performing preventative maintenance.
- Support utility engineers in preparing documentation for TCEQ audits.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the department head.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least two years of college coursework.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Health, Safety and Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Health Administration, or Public Health.
- Knowledge of water treatment systems.
- Ability to perform chemical analysis and adjust chemicals in water systems.
