The UX Engineer Co-op role is a hands-on position embedded within the Product Development team in Boston. This role bridges the gap between design and engineering, focusing on maintaining high standards for both prototypes and production code. You will work closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure the REX Platform remains consistent, polished, and accessible.
What you'll do#
- Own and maintain the shared component library, including design tokens, Storybook stories, and documentation.
- Manage UI skills files to guide component patterns, naming conventions, and accessibility standards.
- Build high-fidelity, interactive prototypes to support product exploration and stakeholder feedback.
- Partner with front-end engineers to ship production UI work, including micro-interactions, responsive fixes, and new component rollouts.
- Conduct design QA and accessibility audits to ensure the final product matches specifications.
- Maintain in-app guidance through Appcues and update customer-facing HelpHub documentation.
- Contribute to design automations and AI-assisted workflows to improve design-to-code efficiency.
- Document patterns and contribute to internal best practices for UX and front-end development.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Information Science, or Graphic Design.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript, with familiarity in React.
- Fluency in design systems and the ability to translate design specifications into functional components.
- Strong professional written communication skills.
- An eye for detail and a genuine curiosity about product team workflows, including sprints and release cycles.
- Willingness to work with AI-assisted design and coding tools.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Modality: Hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week (Monday–Thursday) onsite.
- Term: Summer 2026 (approximately June–December 2026, flexible to academic calendar).
- Employment: Full-time, paid co-op.
