    About the role#

    The Sound Cat Veterinary Hospital offers a DVM student externship designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship. This program focuses on preparing veterinary students to be practice-ready through exposure to feline-only medicine in an AAHA-accredited facility. Externships are typically two weeks long with flexible scheduling available.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide veterinary care and clinical assistance.
    • Participate in wellness, surgical, diagnostic, and specialty veterinary services.
    • Support the veterinary team with daily hospital tasks.
    • Assist with the documentation required for your preceptorship.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
    • Ability to provide student PLIT (Professional Liability Insurance Trust).
    • Capability to perform hands-on work in a veterinary clinical setting.
    • Readiness to work flexible hours.

    • Location: Wilmington, North Carolina.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Compensation: This is an unpaid position. Heartland Veterinary Partners provides coverage for lodging if required.
