The Healthy Homes Department is seeking an intern to support community health initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in public health program development, service delivery, and community engagement. You will assist with project coordination, data support, and communications while gaining exposure to real-world public health practice. Interns also have the opportunity to shadow other areas within Environmental Health and the Marion County Public Health Department.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing project timelines and tasks.
- Collaborate with community partners by facilitating meetings and identifying project deliverables.
- Interpret data analysis results to support public health practice, research, or policy.
- Apply audience-specific communication strategies to share information and analysis results.
- Communicate public health content through both written reports and oral presentations.
- Discuss factors that impact community health.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program, preferably with an MPH concentration.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to legally work in the United States.

- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Note: This is a driving position that may require a significant portion of work time to be performed outside of the base office.
