The Compliance Intern will gain practical experience working within the Compliance Department of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. This role focuses on ensuring organizational adherence to healthcare laws, regulations, statutes, and ethical standards, with a specific emphasis on public and community health programs. Interns will be involved in various projects, including risk assessment for vulnerable adult populations, data integrity, and billing practices.
What you'll do#
- Conduct reviews of programs, workforce records, and patient documentation.
- Analyze revenue cycle processes to identify potential compliance risks.
- Perform internal compliance audits related to HIPAA, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback statutes.
- Develop and revise compliance policies, procedures, job aids, and infographics.
- Create and deliver compliance training and educational materials for healthcare staff.
- Assist with compliance investigations and research on current healthcare laws and regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program, with an interest in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, or Human Resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines.
- Ability to travel as needed to various clinical locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
