The Coordinator for Student Engagement is a twelve-month, full-time position responsible for leading the campus programming plan at Hartwick College. This role focuses on fostering a community for students, faculty, and staff by organizing social, cultural, and recreational programs. The position requires residing in provided on-campus housing and participating in an on-call rotation to respond to campus emergencies.
What you'll do#
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive campus programming, with a focus on new student integration during the start of each term.
- Oversee the advising structure for the Student Government Association and over 60 student clubs, while serving as a functional supervisor for club advisors.
- Manage financial records and budgeting for Student Activities, ensuring adherence to institutional policies.
- Serve as a risk manager for campus activities, including training on institutional policy, insurance, and compliance for political and spontaneous events.
- Negotiate entertainment contracts with outside agencies and maintain relationships with local businesses.
- Act as the campus liaison to the Oneonta Public Transit Authority regarding contractual obligations and service marketing.
- Collaborate on large-scale events such as Wick Weekend, Commencement, and the Scholarship Showcase.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in higher education or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and experience in event planning and advising college students.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and contracts simultaneously.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 15 hours) and lift up to 100 pounds as required for event setup.

- Modality: On-site, including mandatory evening and weekend availability.
