About the role#
Group 1001 is seeking a Quantitative Analysis Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position is based within the Quantitative Analysis Department. The role involves performing research and quantitative analysis to support product development, underwriting, and risk management initiatives. You will work closely with the Quantitative Analysis Team to deliver high-quality insights through data modeling and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Collect and process external data to support market value and residual value forecast assessments.
- Analyze historical data to provide recommendations that enhance existing forecast processes.
- Conduct research on assigned topics, including data analysis for residual values, loss tracing, and operational data automation.
- Develop a loss tracing tool and perform deep-dive analyses on loss-related datasets to identify root causes and patterns.
- Manage monthly loading and preprocessing of external datasets, including the development of automation scripts to reduce manual effort.
- Lead data analysis projects to uncover relationships within datasets, improve process efficiency, and inform decision-making.
- Present research findings, market trends, and actionable recommendations to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate degree program in actuarial science, statistics, economics, financial engineering, or a related field, with at least one year completed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Stata.
- Proficiency in SQL and statistical software such as Python or R.
- Strong analytical, data management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on research topics and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Preferred: Prior knowledge or experience in the auto or insurance industries.
