About the role#
Groundwork Collaborative is seeking a Policy Intern for the fall 2026 term, running from September through December. This paid, part-time position offers hands-on experience within a team focused on progressive economic policy, research, and advocacy. Interns will contribute to work on topics including housing, corporate power, labor, taxation, and public investment.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on key economic and policy issues.
- Draft policy memos, briefing materials for press interviews, and research summaries.
- Track relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
- Analyze data and compile findings into accessible formats, such as charts and graphs.
- Assist in researching and drafting content for fact sheets, op-eds, reports, and policy briefs.
- Support policy-related event planning and coordination.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a two- or four-year university studying economics, public policy, political science, or a related field.
- Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into accessible language.
- Interest in learning about progressive economic policies, federal policymaking, and legislative advocacy.
- Detail-oriented approach with comfort working with data, reports, and policy documents.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship is not available).
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC.
- Modality: Hybrid, with required in-office attendance on Mondays and Wednesdays.
- Residency: Candidates must reside in DC, Virginia, or Maryland.
- Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time (20+ hours per week) with flexibility to accommodate student schedules.
