The Frontier Research team within Prescient Design is seeking a PhD student for a 12-week, full-time internship focused on AI for drug discovery. This role involves independent research and technical problem solving, with a specific interest in decision theory and adaptive experimental design. You will take ownership of business-critical projects while working alongside researchers in the biotechnology industry.
What you'll do#
- Participate in research focused on active simulation-based inference.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address impactful research problems.
- Develop well-documented code to support the adoption of new methods.
- Present research results for potential submission to internal and external scientific venues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- A strong publication record in research communities such as NeurIPS, AISTATS, ICML, or ICLR.
- Proficiency in Python software development.
- Experience with frameworks involving sequential decision-making under uncertainty.
- Ability to reason formally about explore-exploit tradeoffs in adaptive inference procedures.

- Term: Fall 2026 (12 weeks, 40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with a salary range of $40.00–$50.00 per hour, plus a stipend and paid holiday time off.
