As a Research and Development Engineering Associate, you will join the R&D team to support the research, development, and manufacturing of proprietary sensor modules and upstream sensor technologies. You will work on designing, executing, and improving sensor-related processes and research projects while assisting clinical, quality, manufacturing, and data analysis teams. This role involves designing, building, and testing hardware for commercial medical devices and research studies.
What you'll do#
- Design, improve, and test sensor-related processes for current and future product iterations.
- Plan and execute experimental procedures for various research projects.
- Analyze, document, and present R&D data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of sensor-related issues.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to write, update, and execute verification and validation tests.
- Conduct prototype builds, functional testing, and verification activities across hardware and sensor development efforts.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or Biology.
- Biosensor-specific research experience.
- Proficiency with scripting and signal processing using Python.
- Experience with mechanical design of fixtures and jigs using industry-standard tools.
- Experience with electronic system operation, troubleshooting, and development.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 or similar Quality Management System standards.

- Location: Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (8+ months preferred).
- Employment: Full-time, paid position.
- Eligibility: Must be a current full-time student in a Canadian post-secondary program, and a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status.
