About the role#
Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a Process Improvement Co-Op for the Summer 2026 term. This on-site position supports continuous improvement initiatives within operations. You will gain hands-on experience in enhancing efficiency, optimizing workflows, and improving production processes while collaborating with operations, production, and supply chain teams.
What you'll do#
- Support process optimization for workflows, production layouts, and material handling.
- Develop and implement visual management tools to improve organization and communication.
- Assist in creating systems for kit drop-off areas, WIP lanes, and Kanban processes.
- Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Participate in hands-on activities to implement continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (familiarity with CAD is a plus).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement principles is preferred.
- Ability to provide proof of US citizenship, as this role requires access to data restricted to US citizens.
