About the role#
This position is a training role at Erie County Medical Center Corporation designed to provide practical experience in the interpretation, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceutical preparations. You will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist licensed pharmacists with the interpretation, compounding, and dispensing of medications.
- Manufacture and package pharmaceuticals while maintaining accurate records.
- Prepare drugs and document activities under direct supervision.
- Review drug literature to identify potential patient incompatibilities.
- Conduct physical pharmacy inventory and maintain necessary records.
- Assist with nursing unit inspections and the distribution of medications to nursing units.
What you'll need#
- A valid Pharmacy Limited (Intern) Permit issued by the New York State Department of Education, which must be maintained throughout the appointment.
- Strong knowledge of the principles, procedures, and terminology of pharmaceutical science.
- Ability to perform professional pharmaceutical tasks with high accuracy.
- Proficiency in maintaining pharmacy records and preparing reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
