Prototype & Test Engineering Intern, New Product Development

About the role#

We are looking for a Prototype & Test Engineering intern to join our hardware engineering team. You will support the development of a new electromechanical product by building prototypes, conducting critical tests, and performing failure analysis on integrated hardware and software systems. This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, with an expected duration of 8-10 weeks.

What you'll do#

• Build and test complex electromechanical systems, including sensors, pumps, and electronics.
• Collaborate with the product team to deploy systems to real users.
• Partner with sensor, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to review sensor data and field feedback.
• Identify the root cause of issues and determine corrective actions.
• Reproduce and characterize failure cases on the bench to validate corrective actions.
• Track and report findings from troubleshooting to the engineering and product teams.

What you'll need#

• A BS or expected BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent field (MS preferred).
• Hands-on experience with prototyping mechanical and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with lab and diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and command-line utilities to debug hardware-firmware systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs.

• Modality: On-site, 5 days per week.
• Compensation: $30 – $35 per hour.
• Employment Type: Full-time.
• Term: Rolling, 8-10 weeks.
