Ecojustice is seeking a law student for a four-month summer placement in the Vancouver office for the 2026 term. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to environmental and social justice legal work. Students who demonstrate satisfactory performance during this term will be offered priority for an articling position for the 2027-28 term.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal, policy, and general research.
- Prepare legal memoranda, with a focus on environmental and administrative law.
- Provide general litigation support, including drafting pleadings, submissions, and preparing briefs of authorities.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding environmental law.
- Assist with research and writing for organizational reports.
- Manage requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Access to Information Act.
- Interact with clients and non-governmental environmental organizations.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated interest in environmental law and a commitment to working in the public interest.
- Familiarity with environmental and administrative law.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Experience or interest in building collaborative partnerships with equity-deserving groups and incorporating justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion values into professional practice.
Location & details#
- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026 (4-month contract).
- Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week.
- Compensation: $4,523 per month.
