The Social Work Intern joins the Psychosocial Care Unit (PSCU) to support the emotional well-being of international humanitarian workers. This position is a paid internship for the school term of September 2026 through May 2027. The intern will work on tasks coordinated between the PSCU supervisor and their university field placement office.
What you'll do#
- Provide orientation to humanitarian workers regarding well-being during and after their assignments.
- Develop resource materials to support successful humanitarian assignments and reintegration.
- Conduct research focused on humanitarian worker well-being.
- Compile and analyze data to support unit initiatives.
- Deliver presentations on stress management and other relevant topics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master of Social Work (MSW) program at an accredited university that has an existing Memorandum of Understanding with the PSCU.
- Consideration is also open to students in equivalent master’s level programs in Counseling or other mental health fields.
- Experience with clinical work.
- Strong research skills and the ability to develop professional presentations and materials.
- Proficiency in a foreign language, specifically French, Arabic, or Spanish, is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: Hybrid. Interns are required to be in the office a minimum of 2 days per week. Specifically, presence is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the fall and spring terms.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
- Note: No relocation assistance or visa sponsorship is provided for this position.
