The Volunteer Management Intern will support the Volunteer Services Department at the Dallas Zoo. This role provides practical experience in administrative and operational tasks related to non-profit volunteer management. Interns will participate in professional development sessions and are expected to complete a service learning project during their term. This internship is unpaid and does not provide housing, transportation, or a stipend.
What you'll do#
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, including outreach and application review.
- Support screening processes such as interviews and documentation tracking.
- Facilitate volunteer orientation sessions and assist with training material preparation.
- Contribute to volunteer engagement, motivation strategies, and recognition programs.
- Provide administrative support for daily operations, including tracking volunteer hours and maintaining records.
- Support special events and large-scale volunteer initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current college student or graduate within the last year, with a focus in Psychology, Human Resources, or Sociology.
- Availability to work 20–24 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Ability to pass a background check and provide proof of a negative TB test prior to the start date.
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat.
