The D.S. Brown Company Engineering Co-Op Program provides hands-on exposure to the full product life cycle. The program is structured through intentional term rotations in Engineering, Estimating, Operations, and Purchasing/Planning. This cross-functional approach allows students to gain a real-world understanding of how product design impacts manufacturability, material requirements, and production outcomes.
What you'll do#
- Shadow Estimating Technicians to learn the cost-estimating process and how RFI’s are used to clarify project information.
- Support entry-level engineering tasks and assist in design reviews and project planning.
- Tour and shadow each production area to observe products from start to finish.
- Participate in problem-solving, safety, quality, and continuous improvement discussions.
- Identify takeoffs and participate in the cost-estimating process.
- Observe vendor communication and learn how lead times impact production schedules.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Proficiency in geometry and trigonometry.
- Basic understanding of purchasing, machining, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a continuous basis and manually push or pull material.
- Strong organizational skills, including multi-tasking and time management.

- Location: North Baltimore, Ohio (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
