    About the role#

    Cultural Survival is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 Bazaar Program, focusing on food and beverage vendor coordination, outreach, and food sovereignty initiatives. This role provides an opportunity to support the organization's mission of defending Indigenous Peoples' rights and cultures by facilitating the participation of food vendors in our cultural festivals. The intern will work remotely for three months, dedicating approximately 15 hours per week to the program.

    What you'll do#

    • Coordinate outreach and communication with prospective and participating food and beverage vendors.
    • Maintain and update the vendor database to ensure accurate records and follow-up tracking.
    • Assist with onboarding, event preparation, and logistical support for Bazaar events.
    • Research potential new food vendors that align with the mission and vision of the Bazaar.
    • Organize and track permits, licenses, and compliance documentation.
    • Analyze survey results and participant feedback to prepare clear summaries and reports.
    • Collaborate on the Food Sovereignty Project evaluation process and support research on local food regulations.

    What you'll need#

    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Demonstrated empathy, adaptability, and initiative in community-based work.
    • Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, partners, and team members in a multicultural environment.
    • Fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred; additional languages are considered an asset.
    • An interest in cultural events and food sovereignty initiatives.
    • Academic background in fields such as Public Health, Sociology, Communications, or Civil Engineering is relevant to the scope of this work.

    Location & details#

    • Term: Fall 2026 (Starting September 21, 2026).
    • Modality: Remote.
    • Commitment: 15 hours per week for 3 months.
    • Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity; however, a one-time $500 stipend is provided to assist with remote work-related expenses.
    • Certification: An internship certificate of completion is provided upon successful conclusion of the term.

    Founded in 1972 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Cultural Survival is a non-profit organization with a staff of 11 to 50 people. The entity focuses on the advocacy of Indigenous rights through community media, radio programming, and human rights initiatives.
