The AI Engineer Intern will research and develop advanced healthcare informatics, focusing on Artificial General Intelligence to improve healthcare treatment, payment, and operations. This role involves setting up underlying architecture for data agents, including context layers, guardrails, and governance.
What you'll do#
- Support multiple projects by designing and building schemas, storage layers, and AI components such as embeddings, retrieval logic, and prompts.
- Fetch and ingest data from external sources into structured pipelines, managing rate limits and data quality.
- Collaborate with research and development teams, product management, and strategic analysts.
- Communicate technology-related updates and requirements to other departments and senior management.
- Support vendor evaluations and assist in collaborative efforts with academic research teams, practicums, and vendor proofs of concept.
- Partner with business units to provide intelligence and insights on industry trends.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Health Administration, Data Science, or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge in generative AI model development, architectures, and vector databases.
- Hands-on experience with Machine Learning and Deep Learning models, including LLM/RAG and fine-tuning.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS or Azure), large datasets, and building data pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL, Git, and at least one orchestration framework such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams.
