What you'll do#
- Work alongside city officials and professionals in various departments, including Community Services, Engineering, Information Technology, the Mayor’s Office, and Emergency Management.
- Contribute to city initiatives, local policies, programs, and community events.
- Participate in departmental operations based on specific project timelines and needs.
- Gain professional insight into the functions of public administration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associates, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree program, or graduation within the previous six months.
- Majors considered include Political Science, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, Sociology, Urban Planning, Criminal Justice, and Human Resources.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with diverse community members.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is considered an asset.

- Location: Aurora, Illinois.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 (late August/early September through December).
- Commitment: 10–40 hours per week for 10–15 weeks, with schedules varying based on departmental needs.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship; academic credit may be available.
