The Summer Recreation Intern for Inclusion will assist with recreation management, focusing on the development, implementation, and assessment of adaptive recreation programs. This role serves the leisure needs of the Carmel/Clay community, specifically supporting individuals with disabilities to gain hands-on experience in the field of parks and recreation.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing, coordinating, and directing adaptive recreation programs.
- Evaluate existing programs to identify opportunities for improvement or expansion.
- Recommend new and innovative adaptive recreational activities.
- Enforce facility rules and regulations for participants and users.
- Respond to public inquiries, suggestions, and complaints, keeping supervisors informed as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and attend required meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in recreation, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.
- Knowledge of principles and techniques for planning and implementing adaptive recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to follow and provide instructions.
- Ability to work a varied schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends.
