ESE/SCS Intern

About the role#

The ESE/SCS Intern will gain hands-on experience in the field of parks and recreation by supporting the Extended School Enrichment (ESE) and Summer Camp Series (SCS) programs. This position involves assisting with the daily management, planning, and administration of recreational programs for youth.

What you'll do#

• Facilitate and supervise activities for program participants aged 5–15.
• Assist with the organization and coordination of contracted programs.
• Evaluate existing ESE/SCS programs to identify opportunities for improvement or expansion.
• Manage school year and summer camp administrative tasks and complete special projects.
• Attend and participate in professional development meetings and training sessions.
• Handle public inquiries and assist in the preparation of promotional materials.
• Maintain department records and filing systems.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in recreation or a related field.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Ability to possess or acquire First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including national, state, and local searches, as well as a National Sex Offender Public website clearance.
• Preference is given to candidates who possess or are willing to maintain certifications in Stewards of Children, QPR, and Verbal Intervention.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

• Compensation: Paid at $12 per hour.
