About the role#
Capital Electric Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an Accounting Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Kansas City, Kansas.
What you'll do#
- Support core accounting functions, including payroll, job costing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and the preparation of entries and related work papers.
- Participate in accounting close processes and daily reviews of accounts payable entries.
- Help enter and verify purchase orders and compare vendor or subcontractor invoices against contracts.
- Support internal and external audit activities and assist with documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Execute special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program in Accounting.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
- Previous experience in an accounting role is preferred.
