Accounting Internship - Summer 2026

About the role#

Capital Electric Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an Accounting Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Kansas City, Kansas.

What you'll do#

• Support core accounting functions, including payroll, job costing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and the preparation of entries and related work papers.
• Participate in accounting close processes and daily reviews of accounts payable entries.
• Help enter and verify purchase orders and compare vendor or subcontractor invoices against contracts.
• Support internal and external audit activities and assist with documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Execute special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program in Accounting.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
• Previous experience in an accounting role is preferred.
