About the role#
The Squamish Student Housing Intern role provides professional development for undergraduate students interested in tourism and hospitality management. Reporting to the Manager of Short Term Accommodation, you will contribute to the daily operations of housing and guest services at the Squamish campus. This position offers hands-on experience in areas such as reservations, event coordination, and front desk operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the coordination and execution of summer conference operations.
- Support the management of housing assignments, check-in and check-out processes, and guest services.
- Conduct room checks and inventory preparations for incoming guests.
- Handle guest inquiries and resolve issues related to accommodations.
- Collaborate with team members and departments on event logistics, housing setup, and maintenance coordination.
- Participate in training sessions to build skills in hospitality management and customer service.
- Create guest service materials, including information packets and signage.
- Complete project work as assigned by the Manager of Student Housing Services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Capilano University in good academic standing.
- Majors in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, or Marketing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high degree of approachability.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Proven planning, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
