Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Intern

About the role#

This internship supports research and development activities in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Interns work closely with scientists and research staff on data-driven projects, gaining hands-on experience in applied methodologies while contributing to the mission of the Boys Town National Research Hospital.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development and implementation of AI and Machine Learning models.
• Perform tasks related to data collection, preprocessing, and management.
• Support the training, validation, and evaluation of machine learning algorithms.
• Contribute to the design and testing of analytical workflows and computational pipelines.
• Assist research staff with literature reviews and the preparation of scientific manuscripts.
• Document experimental procedures, results, and progress reports.
• Participate in team meetings and present updates on assigned work.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Completion of at least one project in AI or machine learning.
• Proficiency in programming, preferably Python.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Pandas or NumPy.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to obtain Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn, and exposure to data visualization or statistical analysis.
