Editorial Intern, Boston Magazine

About the role#

As an editorial intern for Boston magazine, you will gain hands-on experience in the production of a local publication. This part-time, 25-hour-per-week role involves supporting the editorial team through fact-checking, research, and writing. You will work in a remote capacity, though there may be sporadic opportunities for in-person work at the Boston office. This is a paid, union-covered position.

What you'll do#

• Fact-check front-of-book stories covering lifestyle, home, weddings, and food.
• Conduct research and fact-checking for magazine listings, including Top Schools, Top Lawyers, and Top Dentists.
• Provide general research and writing assistance to staff, including background work and sidebar contributions.
• Write content for the website and print magazine, such as service guides, 'things to do' features, restaurant openings, and real estate pieces.
• Maintain and update evergreen digital guides to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a college student or recent graduate, ideally in Journalism, Communications, or English.
• A strong interest in magazine journalism and a passion for the Boston area.
• Previous editorial experience in newswriting, reporting, or editing is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Boston area.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Google platforms, including Docs, Sheets, and Gmail.

• Work Modality: Remote (with occasional opportunities for in-person work in Boston, Massachusetts).
• Term: Rolling.
• Compensation: $26.60 per hour.
• Employment Type: Part-time.
