About the role#
The Project Development Co-op supports the development and permitting of solar and battery energy storage projects. This role focuses on project pipeline support, including community meeting presentations, utility interconnection reviews, state incentive applications, and landowner communication. You will research technical and policy topics while assisting the team with daily project operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of solar and energy storage project opportunities in NY, PA, and IL.
- Assist in early project diligence tasks including site design, GIS review, and permitting research.
- Produce internal documentation such as Work Orders and ACE forms for project scope advancement and budget requests.
- Interact with engineers, contractors, landowners, permitting authorities, and customers.
- Utilize document control, internal trackers, and Salesforce to monitor and report on project progress.
- Prepare internal and external documents and presentations.
- Provide quantitative analytical support for key project development decisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Civil Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field.
- Previous co-op or work experience in a related discipline.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while managing deadlines.
- Creative problem-solving skills with an interest in process improvement.
- General understanding of electrical components used in solar and storage projects.
- Technical exposure to Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or experience interacting with public officials is preferred.

- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 2026 through December 2026).
- Work Modality: Hybrid (requires being in the office at least three days per week).
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid co-op.
