The Industrial Design Co-op will lead packaging projects for medical device products, guiding them from Front End Innovation through New Product Development. This role focuses on creating user-centered packaging systems that meet both consumer needs and operational requirements. You will work across internal teams—including Product Development, Industrial Design, Marketing, and Operations—to develop and refine packaging concepts for medical devices.
What you'll do#
- Lead packaging development projects from initial concept through to commercialization.
- Translate consumer use requirements into tangible packaging concepts.
- Develop and deliver prototypes for unboxing, handling, and use scenarios to support qualitative and quantitative research.
- Collaborate with internal and external creative teams to develop packaging that meets consumer and retailer needs.
- Participate in Human Factors and Voice of Customer sessions to inform design decisions.
- Explore the impact of various sales channels on packaging design, while considering business costs and sustainability.
- Partner with outside suppliers to develop and qualify new packaging components.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a BS or BFA program in Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or Medical Devices.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Keyshot, Blender, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of material costs and sustainability concepts.
- Preferred: Experience with project management, drawing, and prototype generation.
