The Assistant, Student Financial Aid provides essential support to students navigating the financial aid process at Austin Community College. This role involves direct student interaction, technical guidance, and the application of federal and state regulations to ensure students have the information and resources necessary to manage their financial aid files.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with technical tasks, including setting up FSAID, submitting FAFSA, and requesting tax transcripts.
- Respond to financial aid inquiries in person and via telephone, providing guidance on application procedures, fund availability, and disbursement.
- Review student financial aid applications to determine eligibility based on federal and state regulations.
- Communicate with students regarding incomplete files and assist with the submission of missing documentation.
- Conduct financial aid presentations and workshops, such as FAFSA workshops, loan entrance counseling, and student money management sessions.
- Perform general clerical activities to support the administration of financial aid services.
What you'll need#
- An Associate degree (or four years of related work experience as a substitute).
- One year of related work experience.
- Knowledge of student financial aid processes, activities, and relevant federal and state regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use interpersonal communication skills with tact and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
- Must not be in default on any federal or state student loans.
