Casual Student Attendant

About the role#

This is a casual position focused on attending to the physical needs of exceptional learners. The role is of limited complexity and is distinct from an Educational Assistant position, as it does not involve academic support, tutoring, or the implementation of instructional or behavioural programming. Because this role requires deployment on short notice, successful candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to the Woodstock Education Centre area.

What you'll do#

• Attend to the physical needs of exceptional learners.
• Assist learners with transportation, including community visits and work locations.
• Support learners entering and leaving the building and moving around the school.
• Provide assistance with feeding, hygiene, clothing, and toileting.
• Provide care for catheterized learners.
• Offer general supervision and support to learners.
• Use adaptive equipment and augmentative communication devices as required.

What you'll need#

• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to understand and relate to exceptional learners.
• Willingness to be trained to support learners with exceptional needs.
• Experience using adaptive equipment.
• Experience assisting learners with physical needs.
• Relevant educational background in fields such as Nursing, Psychology, or Criminal Justice is preferred.
