About the role#
The AU Abroad Office is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support program centers in Spain, Kenya, and Belgium. This part-time role focuses on administrative tasks, student outreach, and event coordination. The position is open to currently enrolled American University graduate students for the 2026-2027 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement promotional activities for AU program centers.
- Guide students through the visa application process and process application materials.
- Plan and execute student activities, including pre-departure orientations and alumni events.
- Manage and update program websites and maintain the alumni database.
- Create outreach strategies to engage students in international programs.
- Manage AU Abroad social media platforms.
- Provide administrative support for front desk operations.
What you'll need#
- Must be a graduate student currently enrolled at American University.
- Experience with data entry and organizing student events.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and website maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask during peak periods.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- A demonstrated interest in international education is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Spring Valley Campus, Washington, DC.
- Modality: On-site, 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: Preferred availability is Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a preference for afternoon presence.
- Term: Fall 2026 start (preferred start date of August 24, 2026).
- Compensation: $18.50 per hour.
