Peer Support/Teen Talk Line Internship

About the role#

Access Services is seeking students to join the Peer Support and Teen Talk Line program. This role involves staffing a warm line where individuals in Montgomery County can call or text anonymously to speak with a peer counselor. Interns provide a listening ear, offer support, and assist with recovery or WRAP plans as needed. This position is designed for students seeking academic credit and requires an on-site presence in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms.

What you'll do#

• Answer telephone calls and text messages using empathy and active listening skills.
• Provide support to teens reaching out via the Teen Talk Line.
• Complete daily logs and required documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding program activities.
• Assist individuals in the development of recovery or WRAP plans when necessary.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance during scheduled shifts.

What you'll need#

• Personal lived experience with mental health challenges.
• Must be over the age of 18.
• Enrollment in a degree program (Master's degree students are preferred; Bachelor's degree students may be considered).
• Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid US driver's license held for at least two years, access to a reliable vehicle, and valid auto insurance.
• Ability to pass required clearances, including FBI, PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and DMV driving history reports.

Location & details#

• Location: Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, with shifts available between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM, seven days a week.
• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for academic credit.
• Relevant majors: Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, and Communications.
