This internship provides hands-on experience with the Montgomery County Mobile Crisis team. Interns support individuals of all ages experiencing mental health, addiction, or trauma-related crises. You will work alongside a team to provide 24/7 support through phone counseling and in-person interventions in homes and community settings. This role involves partnering with emergency services, schools, and various providers to deliver crisis expertise and support.
What you'll do#
- Provide immediate, hands-on crisis support via phone counseling and mobile in-person interventions.
- Conduct rapid assessments, provide support, and facilitate linkage to community resources.
- Develop and write action plans with measurable outcomes in a timely manner.
- Complete progress notes and all required documentation accurately.
- Engage with a diverse population while learning risk assessment, safety planning, and resource navigation.
- Participate in assertive outreach for individuals identified as high users of crisis services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s degree program in a field such as psychology, social work, sociology, public health, or nursing.
- A valid driver’s license held for at least 2+ years, with no license suspensions in the last 48 months.
- Ability to think critically and engage effectively with others.
- A humble, adaptable, empathetic, and curious approach to clinical work.
- Prior work or internship experience related to mental health is strongly preferred.
- Access to a reliable vehicle, valid registration, inspection, and auto insurance.
- Ability to pass required clearances, including FBI, PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and a DMV driving history report.
Location & details#
- Location: Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $15/hour with mileage reimbursement for community travel.
- Schedule: A minimum of 20 hours per week is preferred, with availability between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, 7 days a week.
