Zymeworks is seeking a Co-op Student to join the Portfolio Strategy team in Vancouver. This role focuses on supporting the development of a structured business case for a rare disease program. You will work closely with the Portfolio Strategy Manager to integrate clinical evidence, competitive intelligence, and external landscape insights to inform strategic decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of a business case for a rare disease program by integrating scientific, clinical, and competitive insights.
- Conduct targeted competitive intelligence to characterize the current and emerging treatment landscape, including key competitors, mechanisms of action, and clinical positioning.
- Synthesize external clinical data to identify differentiation potential, unmet medical needs, and key risks.
- Contribute to the strategic framing of the opportunity, including positioning and high-level value drivers.
- Prepare materials, including slides and narratives, for internal discussions and cross-functional decision-making forums.
- Participate in team discussions to refine assumptions and ensure alignment with broader portfolio strategy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Biochemistry, Immunology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Availability for a co-op term of at least 8 months.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, including scientific/technical writing and presentation skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Work Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $21.00 CAD per hour.
