About the role#
Young Invincibles is seeking a Policy Engagement Fellow to drive research and advocacy on health care, higher education, and workforce issues. This role balances rigorous data analysis with on-the-ground state policy advocacy. The fellow will report to the Texas Policy and Advocacy Manager to support the 2026-2027 strategic agenda, focusing on translating complex policy into actionable campaigns and supporting young adult engagement in the political process.
What you'll do#
- Access, clean, and analyze large-scale public datasets to support research initiatives.
- Assist with drafting policy reports, issue briefs, and fact sheets.
- Build relationships with policy decision makers, partner organizations, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with local partners to organize community events and build the young adult base.
- Support the Fall and Spring Young Advocates Program (YAP) cohorts by helping to design and deliver Texas-specific trainings.
- Translate complex state and federal healthcare policy into accessible concepts for young adults.
- Represent the organization in media, hearings, and conferences.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant policy and research experience in fields such as Political Science, Economics, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, Health Administration, Communications, or Statistics.
- Familiarity with Texas state policy issues related to health care, higher education, mental health, and workforce development.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including experience with statistical methods and software such as STATA or R.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and survey platforms.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to synthesize complex information for a general audience.
- Experience in community or campus organizing.
