The Policy and Government Affairs (PGA) department at World Wildlife Fund is seeking interns for the Fall 2026 term. This role involves conducting research, analysis, and outreach to support organizational policy and advocacy efforts. Interns will engage with legislation, regulations, and government agency roles related to biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, climate change, and energy. This is an unpaid internship for actively enrolled students who can receive academic credit.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research and analysis on federal agency priorities, programs, budget trends, and policy developments.
- Monitor and summarize Congressional hearings, policy briefings, and coalition meetings.
- Identify relevant funding opportunities by monitoring government websites and databases.
- Assist with pipeline database management and support proposal coordination tasks, including tracking deadlines and organizing documents.
- Support the development of team policy initiatives through background research.
- Conduct stakeholder research to support engagement with Congressional offices and federal agencies.
What you'll need#
- Must be an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student eligible to receive academic credit.
- Strong interest in conservation and international development issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Alignment with WWF core values: Courage, Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration.
- Preferred fields of study include Political Science, International Relations, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, or Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington D.C.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site at the WWF-HQ office two days a week.
- Compensation: Unpaid; must be able to receive academic credit.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available.
