About the role#

Westerkirk Capital is seeking an Alternative Investments Co-op Student to join the team in Victoria, British Columbia for the Fall 2026 term. This full-time, paid position offers exposure to the private investment process, including sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring. You will work alongside investment professionals in a collaborative environment on private equity funds and direct investment opportunities.

What you'll do#

• Attend meetings with private equity managers and external counterparties to summarize key takeaways.
• Conduct research on industries, markets, managers, and companies to support screening and due diligence.
• Assist in the evaluation of private equity fund commitments and direct investment opportunities.
• Maintain organized records of pipeline, diligence, and portfolio information within internal systems and CRM.
• Prepare presentation materials, investment summaries, and decision-support documents.
• Support financial analysis, modelling, and ongoing monitoring of portfolio investments.
• Contribute to workflow improvements and internal process initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics, with preference for 3rd or 4th-year students.
• Strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in private equity and private markets.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; prior financial modelling experience is an asset.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize information clearly.
• High attention to detail, sound judgment, and a professional, discreet approach to confidential work.

• Compensation: $25/hr.
