The Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports production operations and continuous improvement initiatives at the Weinbrenner Shoe Co Inc facility. This role involves partnering with engineering, production, and quality teams to analyze processes, improve efficiency, and support the implementation of lean manufacturing practices. You will gain hands-on experience in optimizing workflows and contributing to projects that drive operational performance.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation of new equipment, processes, and process controls on the production floor.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, ergonomics, and workflow.
- Research and evaluate new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing methods for potential application.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, increasing throughput, and optimizing operations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support day-to-day manufacturing activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year technical program or 4-year engineering degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related manufacturing field.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Basic math skills, with exposure to algebra and statistical analysis preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in both office and production floor environments.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

- Term: Summer 2026.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
