About the role#
The Washington State Senate Republican Caucus (SRC) offers an eight-week summer internship for law students interested in legislative policy. Interns work directly with SRC policy staff and report to the SRC Leadership Counsel. This position provides exposure to legislators, lobbyists, and state agency officials within a caucus environment. The internship is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and assist with bill drafting.
- Support senators during committee meetings, task forces, and work groups.
- Assist with constituent case work and other legislative activities.
- Engage with legislative staff on various task force assignments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a law student.
- High motivation to gain experience in law and public policy.
- Demonstrated interest or experience working on legal and public policy matters.
- An approach to policy that is an appropriate match for the partisan nature of the caucus.
Location & details#
- Location: Olympia, Washington (on-site at the Capitol campus).
- Term: Summer 2027 (following the adjournment of the 2027 regular legislative session).
- Compensation: $3,821 per month.
- Note: This position is not offered for academic credit. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation. No additional employee benefits or paid time off are provided.
