This internship program is designed to help students develop the expertise required to become a Caterpillar Technician. Interns work alongside a qualified mentor to gain hands-on experience with machinery and engine systems.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar engines and machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
- Remove, install, disassemble, and assemble components, as well as test and adjust assemblies.
- Utilize hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, diagnostic software, laptops, cranes, and rigging equipment.
- Gain a practical understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Adhere to technical guidelines and service manuals to ensure repairs meet Caterpillar standards and maintain accurate documentation of all activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA during the internship.
- Successfully complete the Work Steps assessment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Ability to arrange housing near the school campus and the local Warren CAT location if required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

- Modality: On-site, full-time
- Travel: Up to 5% required
- Status: Paid internship; this is a safety-sensitive position.
